En 1980, una pareja de turistas suizos paseaba por el Malecón de Guayaquil, el paisaje
de la isla Santay les llamó la atención y quisieron fotografiarla, el sitio perfecto para
hacerlo era desde el reloj de la torre Morisca. En ese momento de la torre salía un hombre
elegantemente vestido, los turistas le pidieron permiso para subir a la torre y tomar las
fotografías. Él, muy cordialmente se puso a las órdenes, les aseguró que era el dueño y
les comentó que le urgía venderla, pues debía viajar. Los extranjeros maravillados por la
arquitectura y el relato del hombre sobre el origen de la torre y procedencia de su reloj,
se convencieron de comprarlo.

In 1980, a couple of Swiss tourists were walking along the Malecón in Guayaquil, the landscape
of Santay Island caught their attention and they wanted to photograph it, the perfect place to
