Inducción a la Educación Financiera en estudiantes de cuarto año de Educación General Básica en la "Unidad Educativa Otavalo"

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general introducir conocimientos básicos de educación financiera en estudiantes de cuarto año de EGB de la Unidad Educativa Otavalo mediante talleres lúdicos e integrales. La problemática identificada radica en la escasa inclusión de temas financieros en el currículo escolar ecuatoriano, limitando las habilidades de gestión económica en niños. Se adoptó una metodología mixta, combinando entrevistas semiestructuradas y cuestionarios aplicados a 40 estudiantes, seleccionados por muestreo no probabilístico. Los resultados revelaron un entendimiento inicial limitado sobre ingresos, gastos, ahorros e inversiones, con un 62% asociando el dinero a fuentes fantasiosas y un 90% practicando el ahorro en alcancías. Los talleres, basados en estrategias lúdicas y contextualizadas, mejoraron la comprensión de conceptos financieros, especialmente en ahorro y planificación de gastos. Sin embargo, nociones abstractas como la inversión mostraron dificultades persistentes, indicando la necesidad de continuidad educativa. Las conclusiones destacan que las intervenciones lúdicas son efectivas para edades tempranas, promoviendo hábitos responsables que pueden extenderse a familias y comunidades. La investigación subraya la importancia de integrar la educación financiera en el currículo escolar, respetando el contexto sociocultural andino, para fomentar una ciudadanía económicamente consciente y reducir brechas sociales. Este estudio ofrece un modelo replicable para futuras intervenciones, fortaleciendo la inclusión económica desde la infancia.

The general objective of this research was to introduce basic financial education knowledge to fourth-grade students at the Otavalo Educational Unit through fun and comprehensive workshops. The identified problem lies in the limited inclusion of financial topics in the Ecuadorian school curriculum, limiting children's financial management skills. A mixed methodology was adopted, combining semi-structured interviews and questionnaires administered to 40 students, selected through non- probability sampling. The results revealed a limited initial understanding of income, expenses, savings, and investments, with 62% associating money with imaginary sources and 90% practicing saving in piggy banks. The workshops, based on fun and contextualized strategies, improved understanding of financial concepts, especially in saving and expense planning. However, abstract concepts such as investment presented persistent difficulties, indicating the need for continued education. The conclusions highlight that playful interventions are effective at early ages, promoting responsible habits that can be extended to families and communities. The research underscores the importance of integrating financial education into the school curriculum, respecting the Andean sociocultural context, to foster financially conscious citizenship and reduce social gaps. This study offers a replicable model for future interventions, strengthening economic inclusion from childhood.
