ABSTRACT Preschool education, which spans ages between 3 and 5 years, is a fundamental stage in neurodevelopment. This favors the cognitive, emotional, social and motor development of boys and girls, ensuring, among other aspects, success in the acquisition of learning. To do this, as a mediator of this process, there is the Early Education educator, who plays a primary role in this stage. This must have the ability to recognize the characteristics of boys and girls according to their age and adapt their way of teaching, their strategies, teaching materials and methodologies to the needs of the students, promoting learning and comprehensive development. In Ecuador, preschool education is governed by a specific legal framework that guarantees free access, free, mandatory and quality education. Therefore, it is important to analyze preschool education in Ecuador from various perspectives, such as quality, infrastructure, training of educators and the legal framework, in order to identify the limitations and deficiencies that arise. This will allow educational quality to be achieved and guarantee the learning of boys and girls. These challenges motivate us to continue establishing strategies to improve the educational system.
